The family left this morning. I know this because I Cutlass Escorted them back to the Interstate. Trust me. Getting from Our Little House to the Interstate involves four rotaries and several bizarre-o turns that only Boston can do best.
It was a good visit. I'm anxious to get Back To Normal in Our Little House though. Parents are good. Houseguests for four nights are a little tiresome. That's all.
I've resumed my regularly scheduled anxiety attacks regarding Looking For A Job. I realized it's mid-October. And this little temp deal runs out at the end of the year. That's two and a half months to Land Something. Factor in Major Holidays slowing up the hiring process, and we're looking at nearly no time at All.
*sigh*
It's fine, it's fine, it's fine.
Let's review.
The defense-related job is still hanging out there. I need to poke them about that again.
The life insurance gig is still hanging out there as they hold on open positions until such time as they've had a chance to review them "in light of recent events." Supposedly that review should be done "early this week". It's Wednesday. That's the end of "early in the week" in my book. Columbus Day holiday on Monday or not. They get a poking email tomorrow morning.
A managerial position at a biotech firm that I interviewed with yesterday. The interview went amazingly well. Especially considering I wasn't too hip on the job going in. It seems like a *great* company, great opportunity. All that jazz. The interview was actually lagging at one point, and I pulled out a couple of zingers related to finding a band for an actuarial dinner on 8 hours notice in Atlanta. She liked that. We laughed. I think I'll get called back for a second interview. I sent out thank you emails to the four people I spoke with yesterday.
Review ended.
That's not so bad. Really and truly it's not.
I need to keep telling myself that.
And I need another new suit for the second round of interviews.
